Who We Are Georgia Family Council is dedicated to your family. We exist to strengthen Georgia's families by equipping marriage and family advocates, preparing the next generation, influencing public opinion and shaping laws. What We Do We are working with leaders throughout our state to prevent family breakdown and its costly and devastating effects on the lives of children, adults, businesses and communities. Why We Do It Family is important to us. It is the most basic of human communities, and the principle teacher of values. Research shows that family breakdown is the engine that drives our most troubling social problems, including crime, poverty, academic failure, divorce, out-of-wedlock pregnancies and teen suicide. How We Will Make a Difference Equipping Marriage & Family Advocates - GFC helps strengthen marriages and reduce divorce by training community leaders in nationally recognized marriage and family programs aimed at married couples, engaged couples, singles and stepfamilies. These trainers, in turn, pass this training on to their communities through churches, counseling centers, government agencies and other organizations. Preparing the Next Generation - GFC works with parents, teenagers and community leaders to ensure that kids are protected from life-altering mistakes and prepared for healthy, strong future relationships. We deliver seminars and training programs to both teens and parents that focus on Internet safety, drug abuse and abstinence. Influencing Public Opinion - GFC communicates about the family in a way that changes minds and causes people to act in support of healthy marriages and families. We deliver strategic, positive messages through the media and act as spokespersons for timely issues that involve the family. Shaping Laws - GFC works with lawmakers to inform, equip and compel them to act on behalf of the family. Our policy team makes great strides in getting laws passed that benefit families, marriages and children.
